Now in its 12th season, the Butterfly House opens on Friday, May 28 and remains open through Sunday, September 12. It is open daily, weather permitting. In case of inclement weather, visitors are encouraged to call first.
Please note: Due to space restrictions, strollers are not permitted in the Butterfly House.

Gardenfest at Hershey Gardens

Event Details:
Celebrated in the month of Gardens founder Milton S. Hershey’s birthday, Gardenfest allows guests to learn about the wonders of nature as Mr. Hershey intended.
In addition to being able to explore 12 themed gardens, guests also can enjoy entertainment and learn about local non-profit organizations. Some participating organizations include The Garden Club of Harrisburg, Hershey Derry Township Historical Society, Hershey Horticulture Society and Penn State Master Gardeners. The organizations will be stationed along the square garden in Hershey Gardens.
Guests also can enjoy a variety of musical performances by Hershey Area Playhouse, Hershey Community Chorus and Suzuki Strings. Throughout the day, Girl Scouts will be stationed with old-fashioned games for guests to enjoy. Games include hula-hoops, badminton and more.
Gardenfest will be held rain or shine.

Boy Scouts of America Forestry Merit Badge:
Prepare a field notebook using the collection of trees at Hershey Gardens, while identifying trees native to Pennsylvania. Plus, learn about the contributions forests make to society and the importance of forest management.
Fee: $6 for Scouts, $8 for accompanying adults
Webelos Forester Activity Badge:
Identification of trees and plants which make up the layers of a deciduous forest is the focus of this activity. Examine growth rings of a tree stump to explain the history of the tree and learn the benefits and consequences of wildfires in a forest ecosystem.
